Description
This download contains 30 task cards that contain one-step algebraic equations using all operations and positive/negative numbers. I use these in my classroom as a review before the test. I post the cards around the room (on windows, tables, and the blackboard). The students go and stand at one of the cards (this is where they start on their answer sheet), then walk around and answer each question. When they get back to their original card, they have answered all the problems. I call it my “Round the Room Quiz”. They write the answers on the chart provided and do the work in their copybook. If I want them to answer all 30 questions, then they work with a partner (it’s a little quicker). I sometimes only put up half and they answer them independently. I differentiate according to their academic needs. I have sets for various other topics as well. The students LOVE the idea of walking around the classroom instead of sitting at their desks. My 7th graders actually cheer when I pull out a set of cards. Enjoy!
In this download:
• Student Answer Sheet
• Numbered Task Cards (problem only)
• Teacher Answer Sheet (Answers only- Task cards are
numbered. Number on answer sheet correlates to card
number)
• Numbered Task Cards (problem and answer)
I suggest printing these cards on cardstock or heavier paper and laminate them. That way they will last for a while.

CCSS6.EE.B.7
Solve real-world and mathematical problems by writing and solving equations of the form 𝘹 + 𝘱 = 𝘲 and 𝘱𝘹 = 𝘲 for cases in which 𝘱, 𝘲 and 𝘹 are all nonnegative rational numbers.
CCSS7.EE.A.1
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add, subtract, factor, and expand linear expressions with rational coefficients.
CCSS7.EE.B.3
Solve multi-step real-life and mathematical problems posed with positive and negative rational numbers in any form (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals), using tools strategically. Apply properties of operations to calculate with numbers in any form; convert between forms as appropriate; and assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies. For example: If a woman making $25 an hour gets a 10% raise, she will make an additional 1/10 of her salary an hour, or $2.50, for a new salary of $27.50. If you want to place a towel bar 9 3/4 inches long in the center of a door that is 27 1/2 inches wide, you will need to place the bar about 9 inches from each edge; this estimate can be used as a check on the exact computation.
