This Roll and Connect activity is a fun and engaging way for students to practice solving one-step equations! Students compete in pairs and try to cover 5 squares in a row with a marker or chip of their color. This game works great as a math center, or as a fun way to practice this skill with your whole class. They will love blocking each other and trying to be the first to get 5 in a row!
This is also a great game to break up the monotony of end of the year testing!
To play the game, students take turns rolling two dice and solving the equation in the corresponding box. They use a chip or a marker to cover one of the answer squares. Since some numbers have a higher probability of being rolled, the answers to those expressions are repeated more frequently on the game board. You could also have students color the squares with a crayon.
