This program includes 1 CUBES poster, 6 “Map It Out” posters (1 for each type of one-step problem), and 48 addition and subtraction problems (8 questions for each type of problem).
Introduce one type of problem every two or three weeks. Assign two problems a week. Encourage students to use the appropriate map to help them solve the problem. It may seem silly to them, but it will help when it comes time to solve 2-step problems.
Once all six types of problems have been introduced, mix up the remaining problems in random order. Students will now have to figure out which map to use to solve the problems.
