How are my blending lines structured?

Each blending lines set is designed with patterns by rows of texts.

Lines 1 & 2 include pairs or trios of lookalike words. Some skills change onset while others change final sounds.

Line 3 is mixed words following the target skill.

Then the pattern continues for lines 4-6.

Each set is designed with patterns in sets of 2 or 3 words at a time within the first 2 lines. These intentionally similar, but varied, lookalike words focus student attention on the change and promote orthographic mapping. The third line is always a mix of words with the target skill. The pattern repeats for lines 4-6.

Plus, each page of real words and assessments includes 2 sentences of decodable, connected text.

Also, each set includes a mixed review to wrap up the unit. This ensures students have continued practice with the current skill.

    What are fluency grids?

Fluency grids are just what they sound like: grids of words that build fluency. They are intentionally created to provide targeted practice with a particular phonetic skill. These Digraphs Fluency Grids include 6 words per row. The same words are then repeated in each row, but in a randomized order. Students read the page line by line increasing automaticity as they read.
