This activity will give your students great practice reading closed and vowel-consonant-e syllables.
Three decks of cards are included:
1. Deck one consists of consonants, digraphs, and blends.
2. Deck two consists of the five vowels.
3. Deck three consists of consonants, digraphs, and final blends.
4. In addition, vowel "e" cards are included for changing the closed syllables to vowel-consonant-e syllables.
Students take turns drawing one card from each deck and reading the word (or nonsense word) the sounds make.
When you are ready for vowel-consonant-e syllables, add the "e" cards to the end. It is a really good practice to have students read the words/nonsense words WITHOUT the "e" (as a closed syllable) and then add the "e" and have the students read the words/nonsense words (vowel-consonant-e syllable).
This activity really gives the students a lot of practice and they enjoy making the "silly" words.
Have fun and good practice!
