This is a practice activity to review or reinforce solving equations. The one step equations used in this puzzle contain both positive and negative numbers. I created this product for use in my 8th grade math class as a review for using integer rules when solving equations.
This puzzle can be used in a variety of ways. One method for puzzle use is to have students work individually to assemble the puzzle. Another method, (which is the method I use) is to have small groups of students assemble the pieces by solving equations and matching it to the correct solution on another card. When the puzzle is completed, the pieces are then glued to an 11x14 sheet of paper. The final method of use, is to laminate the puzzle pieces after being printed on card stock so they may be used several times. When using this method, I have the students take a picture of their finalized puzzle using their cell phone and email their picture to me for grading.
