The first several pages are printables that can have several different purposes. Use Playdoh, clothespins, bingo dabbers, push pins, or hole punchers to give student’s practice. With the dot sheets on pages 32-34, you could have students mimic the dots in rolled out Playdoh, moon sand, regular sand, pom poms, or even finger paint. The more they practice, the better they will get at 1:1, number recognition, and counting!

The "I See" counting books/task cards can be used many different ways and come in both color and black and white. I introduce these booklets during either small group time or one on one teacher time depending on the ability level. Once a student begins to get the hang of it, I add a black/white version to his or her workbox system to practice independently using either printable manipulatives to glue on, or I laminate everything and add velcro to secure sticking. Once a student gets the hang of one book, use another to practice using different objects with the same concept. Send home books and a print-out of manipulatives (pennies, dots, etc.) for students to practice with their parents.

Another option for these cards is to mix up a few different sets (for example, pennies and blocks) and have students choose a card and match up the correct manipulative while they practice counting out loud.
