These task cards are a great way to review with students how to use online or print encyclopedias. Each task card has one fact on it from the National Geographic for Kids Weird but True books and web site. Students will read the fact and then have 3 questions to answer related to that fact. Once the students have found the answer they can write it on the recording sheet. These go along perfectly with my Online Encyclopedia Worksheets and Scavenger Hunts
What is Included
º 18 task cards in color
º The same 18 task cards in black and white
º Recording sheet
º Answer key
You can have students answer just one question from each card, two questions or all three. By having three different questions you can easily differentiate for different classes and/or students.
To create the questions I used the World Book Online Encyclopedia Kids version. However, I think that most of the questions could be answered using other reference materials sources or other internet sites.
These task cards can be used in a variety of ways. You can use them as a center activity, a partner activity, in small groups, as a scoot game, whole-class instruction, practice and review or for fast finishers. They can be used in a classroom or a library setting.
