I have written a post on how I use
Exit Tickets in the Classroom
Exit tickets are a great formative assessment. They are a quick way to determine if students get the concept that you have taught or if they need to spend more time on the concept. You can use them in small group , at a related literacy center, or the entire class can do them after a whole group lesson.
There are two different styles of exit tickets. With one style, students circle, color, or dab the correct rime. With the second style, students write the onset and rime. Each ticket is a half page. Each ticket assess three onset and rime words. I have also included a recording sheet where you can mark which students understood the concept and which students need to be retaught.
