This Communities in Canada, Past and Present: Part 1 - Moving From One Community to Another
resource is intended to support the 2013 Ontario Social Studies Curriculum for Grade 6. This particular FRENCH version is structured so that all student text and graphic organizers are written in French, while teacher notes are written in English.
This would be an ideal resource for a French Immersion classroom! (NOTE: This unit was recently revised by Julie-Gauthier-Carriere, my French translator.)
Students will inquire into the various reasons people move from one community to another in historical and contemporary Canada, using Q-charts to assist them in formulating to guide their investigations.. Complete lessons plans and teacher notes, along with student-friendly text, make this unit an engaging and productive resource. Students will explore the following communities: Winnipeg, Attawapiskat, Early Black Communities, and Europeans in New France.
PLEASE NOTE: This resource is one of FIVE resources for this social studies strand. These resource can purchased separately OR as a money-saving bundle, which will save buyers $5 on the total cost of the units. Check out the bundle here:
