CLAIM, EVIDENCE, & REASONING (CER) LESSON
Students will create a strange substance called Oobleck and experiment with it's properties. Through hands on experimentation, watching a demo video, & reading an article on non-Newtonion Fluids, the students will discover that Oobleck has properties of both a liquid and a solid depending on the pressure applied. Your students will then write an argument, from all the evidence presented, to prove this claim. This activity is a fun and engaging way to meet a very important common core standard.
This product contains:
★ A three page student handout that guides them through the process of discovering Oobleck's state of matter and arguing to prove it!
★ A key to example student responses and a full written example argument
★ Links to both a demo video (from YouTube) and a scientific article on non-Newtonion Fluids
★ A full page explaining how I set up the supplies and manage the lab activity
