Op Art is a short unit that can be taught with limited resources (paper and colored pencil). It works for all grade levels who are just starting to develop their drawing skills. I teach it in Intro to Visual Arts at the high school level in order to teach students about color schemes, the color wheel, shading, highlights, and giving the illusion of three dimensions on a two dimensional paper. Students learn about the artists MC Escher, Victor Vasarely, and Bridget Riley in this unit.
This resource is a 71 slide powerpoint that is broken up into 7 days of teaching this unit. This file coordinates with a file in my shop that has all of the handouts for this unit, including a quiz and step by step Op Art guides
