After reading each story found in Open Court Grade 3 Unit 2 about city wildlife, give your students the chance to write with these journal activities!
Included in this journal activity bundle are directions for use, five journal activity pages, an extra blank journal page to copy as side two for any of the other five journal pages, and a journal menu for each of the following stories:
+"The Boy Who Didn't Believe in Spring" by Lucille Clifton
+"City Critters: Wild Animals Live in Cities, Too" by Richard Chevat
+"Make Way for Ducklings" by Robert McCloskey
+"Urban Roosts: Where Birds Nest in the City" by Barbara Bash
+"Two Days in May" by Harriet Peck Taylor
+"Secret Place" by Eve Bunting
(Each of these individual journal activity packs are found in the Fields of Brum TpT store.)
The journal menu is an especially helpful tool to help differentiate in the classroom. Simply highlight which questions you'd like individual students to answer and give the journal menu to the student to complete. (Some journal questions are more complex than others.) If they have extra time during the week, they can choose what other questions they'd like to complete.
Enjoy using this journal activity bundle!
