Product Description
These open-ended flip book templates are great for a number of grade levels and children with varying needs because the students can respond at their own specific developmental levels. The flip books are a great way to differentiate instruction during reading workshop and small group lessons, but they can also be used as assessment tools and/or homework activities.

They are designed to work with any book you choose and there are templates for both fiction and nonfiction. When you are using a specific book with the children, think about the skills you want to teach and find a flip book template that fits those goals as well as the book you’ve chosen. They are no-prep (other than making the photocopies) because the children can cut, assemble, and staple their own books in the process.

Click on the PREVIEW above to see 4 fiction samples and 4 nonfiction samples.

This set provides 25 templates that cover most of the Common Core Standards for literature and informational text for grades K-3. There are only a few standards that aren’t easily addressed in this flip book format. The templates cover:

FICTION:

• Story Elements (Setting, Characters, Events, Problem / Solution)
• Story Sequence (Beginning, Middle, End)
• Author's Purpose
• Predicting
• Asking and Answering Questions
• Sharing and Supporting Opinions and Recommendations
• Identifying Character Traits
• Making Important Connections
• Summarizing
• Retelling
• Using Text Evidence
• Vocabulary
• Cause and Effect
• And More!

NONFICTION:

• K-W-L
• Asking and Answering Questions
• Facts vs. Opinions
• Nonfiction Text Features
• Vocabulary and Key Words
• Identifying a Topic
• Main Idea
• Key Details
• Author's Purpose and Point of View
• Comparing and Contrasting
• And More!

It is possible to mix-and-match some of the flip book pages so you can customize your own template. You just have to make sure the pages you’re switching are the same length or the flip book won’t be layered correctly.
