Product Description
If your students can use additional practice using open number lines to add and subtract two-digit numbers, this set of differentiated task card activities might be just what you need! Thirteen sets of twelve task cards, recording sheets, and answer keys are included. Great for scoot games or math centers! Use them at different points throughout your unit or assign different sets to different groups of students.

The following sets are included:

Frog Hoppin’ Open Number Line Equations (Addition): Students look at the open number line provided on each task card and write an equation to represent where Freddy Frog is hopping on the recording sheet. Four sets are included :

❀ The yellow set of cards includes only the addition of multiples of ten and provides the sum after
each step written on the number line. The blue set represents the same equations, but does not
include sums. Students must mentally add each group of ten or use a dry erase marker on a
laminated card. This makes for a slightly more challenging version of the same task.

❀ The green set of cards includes the addition of tens and ones and provides the sum of each step
written on the number line. The black set includes the same equations as the green set without the
sums included. Again, students must mentally add each group of tens and/or ones, or use a dry
erase marker on a laminated card. This is the most challenging option.

Pond Hoppin’ Open Number Line Equations (Addition): Students look at the equation on each task card and use an open number line to solve the equation and lead Freddy Frog across the pond. Two sets of differentiated task cards are included. The yellow set of cards includes only the addition of multiples of ten. The black set includes addition of tens and ones.

--

Frog Hoppin’ Open Number Line Equations (Subtraction): Students look at the open number line provided on each task card and write an equation to represent where Freddy Frog is hopping on the recording sheet. Again, four sets are included to help meet the needs of your students:

❀ The yellow set of cards includes only the subtraction of multiples of ten and provides the
difference after each step. The open number lines displayed in blue set show the same equations,
but do not include the differences after each step. Students must mentally subtract each group of
ten, or use a dry erase marker on a laminated card. This makes for a slightly more challenging

❀ The green set of cards includes the subtraction of tens and ones and provides the difference after
each step. The black set includes the same equations as the green set without each differences
written in. Students must mentally subtract each group of tens and/or ones, or use a dry erase
marker on a laminated card. This is the most challenging option.

Pond Hoppin’ Open Number Line Equations (Subtraction): Students look at the equation on each task card and make an open number line to solve the subtraction equation and lead Freddy Frog across the pond. Two sets of differentiated task cards are included. The yellow set of cards includes only the subtraction of multiples of ten. The black set includes subtraction of tens and ones.

--

Swimmin’ Through Open Number Lines (Addition & Subtraction Mixed Practice): This final set of task cards includes word problems and interpretation tasks designed to review various open number line situations and push students to explain their thinking in writing. Addition and subtraction tasks are included. Because many of the tasks are open ended, an answer key is not provided for this final set of cards.
