Project-Based Learning, according to the Buck Institute for Education, "is an effective and enjoyable way to learn - and to develop deeper learning competencies required for success in college, career, and civic life." Through PBL, students are active learners, and create real-life relevance that builds deep understanding of content studies.
This project will take students through an exciting, hands-on, and creative experience in learning about such concepts as the 6 main human body systems (circulatory, respiratory, digestive, skeletal, muscular, nervous) and Earth's solar system, as well as a specialized form of writing.
Through this project, students will:
-Conduct background research on human body functionings
-Record detailed observations of the 6 main body systems of their creature, and how they compare to the human body systems
-Draw a detailed diagram showing all parts of their alien lifeform
-Create a 2-dimensional model of your alien (mixed media collage)
-Record a voice-recording from the perspective of their alien
