This is a battleship game that you can use to review for powers of i, square roots of negative numbers, and operations with complex numbers.
How to Play Complex Number Battleship
1) Place your 5 ships in your battle field by lightly shading with pencil in the blocks they cover. Ships can only be placed in horizontal or vertical positions, NO DIAGONALS. Ships cannot overlap.
• Carrier- 5 blocks
• Battleship- 4 blocks
• Cruiser- 3 blocks
• Submarine- 3 blocks
• Destroyer- 2 blocks
2) The first person starts by calling out the answer to the problem located in the Opponents Hits box where they want to attempt to hit a ship. The second player locates the correct answer on their battleship board. They tell the other player if it is a hit or a miss.
3) Then the other player repeats the process by calling out answers to their problems.
4) The game continues until all of one player’s ships are hit. The winner is the player who sinks all of the opponent’s ships first.
