More fun and engaging printable, interactive notebook activities, spinners and problem solving worksheets for the upper elementary. These activities, ideal for math centers and small guided groups, are designed to allow the kids to both practice their skills in finding fractions through general number operations and within problem solving scenarios. The activities are aligned with the CCSS Math standard for fifth grade, 5.NF.1, 5.NF.2, 5.NF3 and 5.NF4. They can of course be used with 4th and 6th grades too.
I like to give the kids the inquiry worksheets and then have them solve the problem and explain how they solved the problem. With the spinners, in proper fractions, improper fractions and mixed numbers, the children can either write their own word problem, using the numbers and operations from the spinners or simply play a game, practicing their computation of operations with fractions. The spinners can also be used for comparing and ordering of fractions activities.
This packet includes:
3 interactive notebook activities for practicing lowest common denominator, operations with fractions and finding equivalent fractions
12 problem-solving/authentic inquiry scenarios worksheets to use as homework, formative review of learning, diagnostic assessments etc. (with answer sheets)
6 differentiated spinners with the 4 operations and improper and proper fractions and mixed numbers. The spinners are in full color and black and white to save ink if you prefer.
Thanks for looking.
