Product Description
This is a fun writing project that addresses the following:

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.2.1 Write opinion pieces in which they introduce the topic or book they are writing about, state an opinion, supply reasons that support the opinion, use linking words (e.g., because, and, also) to connect opinion and reasons, and provide a concluding statement or section.

Students get to read and write about a topic they care about. Should students be able to chew gum at school?

This writing project includes:
research resources
a sheet to organize opposing opinions, plus an area to state their own opinion
a graphic organizer to plan their introduction, reasons for their opinion and conclusion
rough draft sheet
final draft sheet
suggestions for a lesson plan and craft
and grading rubric

I have done this activity with my own class and they loved it! Especially when we celebrated our hard word with a bubblegum party!
