I created this activity for my 5th grade students who need practice understanding what an opinion statement is and the difference between a reason and evidence. They also need practice understanding how evidence supports a reason. They will read each statement and match reasons with their corresponding evidence statement. They will place the opinion statement at the top and glue the reasons down with the evidence immediately following the reason it supports.
I have found that my students put more thought into their work when the activity involves cutting and pasting than if it is a worksheet. They also think it is more fun and "easy." The end result is that they learn it better. I call that a win!
The answer key is included.
Enjoy!! (If you liked this free resource, please come back and leave feedback!) I am teaching 5th grade ELA and science this year, and putting up new ELA and science resources as they are needed for my class. Be sure to follow my store so you will be one of the first to hear when I post new resources.
