PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

THE STUDENTS GET TO IMAGINE THAT THEIR DOG HAS JUST EATEN THEIR HOMEWORK. THEY TAKE IT TO A VETERINARIAN TO GET THE HOMEWORK OUT. THE VETERINARIAN ASKS THE STUDENT TO ASSIST THEM WITH GETTING THE PAPER OUT. STUDENTS THEN STICK THEIR HANDS INSIDE THE DOGS STOMACH (32 OUNCE YOGURT CONTAINERS, OR CONTAINERS OF EQUAL SIZE) AND PULL OUT DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE PAPER, AND MUST PUT THEM TOGETHER. WHILE THEY PUT THE PAPER TOGETHER, STUDENTS NOTICE DIFFERENT QUALITIES OF A GOOD PAPER, AND MAKE NOTES ON THE "SURGERY" OBSERVATION LOG. DIFFERENT FUNNY OBJECTS ARE ALSO MIXED IN WITH THE DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE PAPER TO ALLOW STUDENTS TO LAUGH AT THE FUNNY THINGS THEIR DOG HAS EATEN.

LESSON OBJECTIVE: This engaging lesson allows students to understand the important qualities/components of a writing.
