The intent of this observation form is to increase classroom focus on providing more opportunities that prompt all students to respond. Classroom observers tally the number of times one student at a time is prompted to respond (individual response) and the number of times that all students are prompted to respond at the same time. Based on the data, a total number is generated at the end of the document, which represents the total number of times students were asked to respond to a question during the length of the observation.
*Please note that this tool does not measure the quality of the questions, or responses, but the number of opportunities students are given to respond.
