This Opposites I have… Who has…? Game is a fun way of learning to read and pronounce English vocabulary. If the meanings of the words are unknown, students could be encouraged to use a home language or English dictionary to aid comprehension. Because of the repetition in the game, students are able to copy the pronunciation of the word spoken by the previous player so learning / consolidation and interaction are enabled.
A follow up activity could be the writing of a few sentences containing selected words. If two sets of the game are prepared, one set could be cut up to make individual cards which could be put in bag/ box for students to randomly select a few words to be incorporated in constructing their sentences.
This resource only needs to be printed in black, so printing costs are kept to a minimum.
Most of the words used in the game are adjectives .
The words used are:-
easy – difficult, fat - thin, old – young, left – right, big – little, bad – good, in – out, full – empty, light – heavy, up –down, high – low, hot – cold, inside – outside, boy – girl, start – finish, safe – dangerous, wide – narrow, bottom – top, question – answer, exit – entrance, deep – shallow, cheap – expensive, clean – dirty, wet – dry, closed – open, above – below, fast –slow, happy – sad, rich – poor, strong – weak, cruel – kind, beautiful – ugly, hard – soft, long – short, man – woman, whisper – shout.
