This orange surface area activity is a great hands-on and engaging activity!

Students will work in groups (up to 4 people) to develop the formula for the surface area of a sphere using an orange. To develop the formula, students must have prior knowledge about the area of a circle.

This product includes step-by-step directions and photos. There two pages, one for on-level and the other for Pre-AP/Honors.

- Use a normal orange, not Cuties or Halos :)

- Stress to the kids accuracy matters and to avoid white spots in the circles!
