Core standard 5.OA.A.1 - Use parenthese, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, evaluate expressions with these symbols. Although this standard begins in fifth grade, this power point can also be used with students in middle school to practice PEMDAS. This is a 14 slide presentation with detailed steps to solving mathmatic problems using the order of operations (PEMDAS). As each step is used, the answer to that step is colored differently from the rest of the problem so that students can easily see which part of the problem was worked. Even though the presentation is 14 slides, each problem is worked out step by step revealing only one step at a time with each click. There are three slides introducing the PEMDAS process followed by one 2-step problem, four 3-step problems, one 5-step problem, six "Your Turn" 2-step problems with solutions on a different slide, and six "Your Turn" 3-step problems with solutions on a different slide.
