Product Description
WHAT’S INCLUDED:

•PowerPoint presentation lesson: 23 slides
This lesson covers order of operations. The presentation includes a pre-requisite knowledge warm-up, a description of PEMDAS, eight examples of using the order of operations to simplify numeric expressions, an explanation of what variables are in algebra and what it means to evaluate an expression, and eight examples of evaluating algebraic expressions for a given variable.

• Filled-in PowerPoint presentation: 23 slides
This version of the PowerPoint lesson includes the work, answers, and explanations that the students would have heard and seen during the lesson. This is a great resource to provide to students who were absent on the day of the lesson and to students who need accommodations or modifications.

• Guided notes: 2 pages
This PDF document directly follows the PowerPoint notes for this lesson. These are great for students who need accommodations or modifications. Or, provide these for all students to increase the speed of the lesson and to allow students to spend less time copying and more time participating in the lesson.

• Warm-Up
A printable version of the warm-up from the notes is also included, including an answer key. There are four warm-ups per page.

• Exit Ticket
A short, two-question “exit ticket,” is included, and the answer key is provided. These questions mirror the types of questions that students saw in the notes and can be an efficient way to gauge how well students understood the lesson. Additionally, the back side of the exit ticket asks students to rank how they feel about the concepts taught from 1-4. There are four exit tickets per page.

• Maze Activity Worksheet
A fun way for students to practice the concept taught in the lesson. The worksheet features 11 problems for students to solve, starting with the circle marked “START” and ending with the circle marked “FINISH.” Students must use the order of operations to simplify each expression and then follow the path marked with the correct answer to the next problem. An answer key is included.

• Worksheet: 12 problems
The first six problems of this worksheet ask students to simplify expressions completely using the order of operations, and the last six problems ask students to evaluate algebraic expressions for a given value. The problems on this worksheet are inspired by the types of problems students will see later in the year, such as exponential and quadratic equations. An answer key is provided.

• Quiz: 4 problems
This half-sheet quiz asks students to solve the same types of problems they practiced in the notes and on the worksheet. This type of quiz is great for quick, formative feedback between teacher and student. An answer key is provided. Also included are two other versions of the same quiz that can be handed back to the student with their graded quiz. The first asks students to describe what mistakes they made on their first attempt on the quiz. The second asks students to provide the correct work for each problem they made a mistake on.
