This lesson is meant to be used as guided notes for an entire class. Students begin by reviewing order of operations, with emphasis on the common mistakes of multiplying before dividing or adding before subtracting. We then simplify expressions step by step, listing each as we go. In the beginning, we see the division symbol to stress the “left to right” rules, but then we exclusively use the division bar. Parenthesis and exponents are used, and the expressions get as big as 5-step simplifications.
The included assignment is based off of the guided notes.
