Description of Lesson:
I use Interactive Student Notebooks (ISN) and SmartBoards to teach new mathematical concepts. In this Oder of Operations Lesson, my SmartBoard lesson is aligned with my foldable. I find that engaging SmartBoard lessons and Interactive Student Notebooks create a fun and hands-on learning environment for learners of all levels. Everything for this lesson is completely ready for implementation. Just make copies of the graphic organizer for each student, and your lesson is ready to go!
This lesson provides the basic foundation of the Order of Operations while providing several challenging expressions for students to solve. Students will become familiar with the mathematical operations through the foldable examples and activity problems. The lesson also includes practice think-pair-share problems and a challenge of the day.
1 Foldable for student Interactive Student Notebook
1 Interactive SmartBoard Lesson to accompany the foldable
Step-by-Step Guide of SMARTboard lesson
1) Print one copy per student of the foldable. (Print front and back.)
2) Have fun!
How to Use the Foldable:
My students each have an ISN for keeping important mathematical content. With this specific foldable, students will fill in the cover of the foldable. Then, they will solve the mathematical expressions provided inside the foldable while working through the SMARTboard activity as a class. Some of my visual learners lightly shade each box a different color. When we are finished, students glue the back side of the foldable into their ISN for future reference.
How to Use the Interactive SMARTboard Lesson:
All my SMARTboard lessons are designed to get students out of their seats and engaged in the learning process. Many pages have links, or images that fade out, or fade in. All answers are included on each slide. The included lesson plan walks you through the details of each slide throughout the presentation.
I hope this helps your students learn to use the order of operations. After downloading and using, please come back and rate my product!
