Order of Operations
*Part of the Islands of the Lost Pirates Treasure Hunt Series*
Objective: Students will be able to correctly following the order of operations.
Grade Level: 6th to 10th Grade
Time: 45 Minutes
Common Core Math Standards: 7.EE.B.3, 7.NS.A.1, 7.NS.A.3, 8.EE.A.2
Supplies: Clues, Worksheet, Pencil
Give students the treasure hunt student worksheet. Place the 10 clues around the room. Set the students off to solve the clues and find the location of the treasure. Students can do the work by themselves; however it works best in groups of 2 or 3.
If you don’t want the students walking around the classroom, there is a treasure hunt worksheet at the end with all the clues written. This is a great option for homework and for reviewing the answers with the class.
If students find all the correct clues, each wrong option will only be crossed out once. This is a way for the students to check their progress as they go. At the end of the class, students who haven’t “found” the treasure can make their best guess based on their clues.
