Students need to find draw polygons in the coordinate plane, use coordinates to find side lengths, and begin graphing equations.
This all starts with knowing how to plot ordered pairs in all 4 quadrants of the coordinate plane!
In this sorting activity, students cut out 16 sorting cards. These cards contain ordered pairs that would be plotted in all 4 quadrants of the grid. Students must sort the cards and attach them on the chart, under the appropriate heading.
Student are prompted to record rules for each quadrant, such as "In Quadrant III, all coordinates are negative".
These sorting activities are quick, fun, simple ways to help students estalish the basic skills they need before take on more complex tasks.
