Are you searching for a fun and engaging activity to supplement your instruction on ordering fractions? Give your students this recipe book activity and watch as they channel their inner chef! Students will create names for different dishes, select four ingredients for that dish, and then make equivalent fractions from the amount of each ingredient needed and order the fractions from least to greatest (they won't be writing out steps to make the recipes...just picking the ingredients). Your students get to be creative while you get to assess students' understanding and field questions like "How do you spell 'chocolate'?" and "What are those crunchy things you put on salads?" I can almost guarantee that you and your students will have fun with this activity, and your students will get some good practice without even realizing it!
