This is one of my kids’ favorite activities. Each student will need a sentence strip. I always try to use the heavier weight sentence strips, or cut your own from card stock. The students write one number on each ghost/leaf (1-10). You can have them write even numbers in one color and odd numbers in another. Then they color the ghosts and/or leaves. Next, they write the colors of each ghost/leaf on their recording sheet. Finally, students cut out the ghosts and/or leaves and glue them in sequential order on the sentence strips. You can have the kids glue odd numbers low and even numbers higher. It’s up to you, how far you want to take this. Students love to share their artwork and sentences with their peers. If you choose to use the ghosts at Halloween, think about those who don’t celebrate and use the leaves as an alternative.
