Product Description
Correction- teaching the organelles within the cell doesn't have to be dull! Using this lesson you can teach the 8 major organelles- mitochondria, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex, cell wall, large central vacuole, chloroplast, and lysosomes- in meaningful and fun way.

In this graphic organizer about the organelles each student, as led by the PowerPoint, will create an 8-door booklet, one door for each of the 8 organelles- mitochondria, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex, cell wall, large central vacuole, chloroplast, and lysosomes. After getting the 8 doors of the booklet cut and titled, students will color-code them into one of 3 sections- those organelles that are found in all cells (mitochondria, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex), those in plants only (cell wall, large central vacuole, chloroplast), and those only found in animals (lysosomes). Inside each door students will write 2 facts per organelle- 1 summarizing with it does, plus one other fact.

The first door is mitochondria. Inside the mitochondria door we'll write 2 facts- the first being the mitochondria's function (cellular respiration) and the other a key fact for mitochondria. That concludes what's inside the mitochondria door.

The second door is ribosomes. Inside the ribosomes door we'll write 2 facts- the first being ribosomes function (make protein) and the other a key fact for ribosomes. That concludes what's inside the ribosomes door.

The third door is endoplasmic reticulum. Inside the endoplasmic reticulum door we'll write 2 facts- the first being endoplasmic reticulum's function (make and move protein) and the other a key fact for endoplasmic reticulum. That concludes what's inside the endoplasmic reticulum.

The fourth door is Golgi complex. Inside the Golgi complex door we'll write 2 facts- the first being Golgi complex's function (distribute protein) and the other a key fact for Golgi complex. That concludes what's inside the Golgi complex.

The fifth door is cell wall. Inside the cell wall door we'll write 2 facts- the first being cell wall's function (support and protection) and the other a key fact for cell wall. That concludes what's inside the cell wall.

The sixth door is large central vacuole. Inside the large central vacuole door we'll write 2 facts- the first being large central vacuole's function (storage & support) and the other a key fact for large central vacuole. That concludes what's inside the large central vacuole.

The seventh door is chloroplast. Inside the chloroplast door we'll write 2 facts- the first being chloroplast's function (photosynthesis) and the other a key fact for chloroplast. That concludes what's inside the chloroplast.

The eighth door is lysosomes. Inside the lysosomes door we'll write 2 facts- the first being lysosome's function (break down waste) and the other a key fact for lysosomes. That concludes what's inside the lysosomes.
