I had several students whom had major problems with organizing their papers. I found an article and divided it into different portions for students to figure out how to sequence the article.
They have to use text help to figure out the difference between title and subtitles. In addition, they have to sequence the subtitles. Then they must figure out which text chunks fit with each subtitle. To end, they must take the text from one subtitle and use transitions to figure out the correct sequence.
You can have students do this in groups or independently. I only had the students whom assessed poorly in organization complete this activity. I had all students do a lesson with their greatest weakness. (See also Run-on Lesson AND Main Idea Lesson.)
