Are your students having trouble learning the functions of the organs of the digestive system? If so, then these task cards may be just what they need to help them learn.
Nine cards have a part/organ of the digestive system (i.e. Stomach) on them. The other cards have their functions and examples. The students start by identifying the cards with the nine main organs and then work to match each card with a function to the correct organ card. This is not a simple one to one match. Most of the parts/organs of the system should be matched to 3-4 other cards. This makes the matching more challenging and gives students more information about each of the organs. There are 36 cards in this activity.
These cards can be used for individual students or matching manipulatives for groups of two to four students. The cards are created on PowerPoint slides so you can use the slideshow in class as an answer key or even post the cards on your classroom word wall. Once the students have the cards matched up, they can use the included student graphic organizer to take notes on each of the parts/organs of the Digestive System. Instructions for how to do the activity are included.
