In 1922, James Joyce published the classic novel Ulysses. James Joyce create hundreds of new words in this complicated text. This activity is a short quiz on 10 of those words found in chapter one. Students are required to read a short quote from chapter one and select the original word they think best completes the sentence. The student is then asked to select their favorite original word to then use in an original sentence.
Obviously, an answer key is included!
Great for poetry units, as an introduction to Ulysses, or as a way to introduce to students how versatile the English language can be!
