• I use this as a supplemental field lab activity in my high school Zoology and Ornithology classes. Students may do supplemental labs to replace class labs when absent or to be used at outside field experiences.
• In this activity students go to our local zoo and do an observational experiment with 4 different exhibits with large flocks of birds.
Students observe at each exhibit for 15 minutes. On each minute they do a visual scan and code their findings on the data table. There is a written description of each exhibit. At the end of the experience students write a reflection of their hour of data collection.
This is a 13 page Word Document. 12 Pages are student worksheet - I shrink the worksheets to half-size and fold to make a booklet. The last page included the above Teacher notes.
