Orthographic (ortho) views are two-dimensional drawings used to represent or describe a three-dimensional object. The ortho views represent the exact shape of an object seen from one side at a time as you are looking perpendicularly to it without showing any depth to the object.
I used this lesson today with a grade 10 class of under-performing math students. There was complete buy-in and engagement! Students who finished early used some kinetic sand and models, with plastic knives and they explored cross sections.
Give the kids blocks and kinetic sand to play with, and they are happy!
