Coding words for reading and writing can be hard for struggling readers and writers. However, learning to code is a reading strategy that works for students.
Learning the steps to coding can be hard. Therefore, I created a worksheet where the rules that are being chorally said during practice is on one sheet for the students and a visual example is displayed next to it based on each step.
This can easily be printed and enlarged if your school provides enlargements. Also, you can print all 4 pages on one sheet and tape it on student desks so they have access to the rules when they need. Laminating it will make it last a lot longer as our students can have busy fingers and tend to rip them off!
This packet includes Closed syllable rules (CVC), Open syllable rules (CV), VCCV patterns, VCV patterns, and V--e (magic e) patterns.
