In this packet you will find 2 decks of Orton-Gillingham Level 1 Cards (c-qu)--a smaller version of the set provided in the 30-hour initial OG training, and the same deck including visual supports for emerging readers who may benefit from picture cues.
How do I use the smaller, individualized sound cards?
--Use these smaller cards in your 3-part drill (I sometimes find that the larger cards can be a bit tricky to manipulate when practicing sound blending.)
--Print a set for each student and use for phoneme manipulation/sound blending practice individually OR in a small group setting. Place individual student sound card sets on metal rings, individualizing for where each student is at in his learning (I find this is a great way to provide students independent practice with the sounds they’re working on)
--Students may also take their cards home for extra practice. They LOVE having their own, personal set of sound cards. I find that it motivates them to learn, as they want to continue adding new sounds to their ring as they reach mastery.
--Buddy practice—students can practice letter sounds together, running through the sound cards as flashcards.
