This document provides a list of the 10 components of a complete Orton-Gillingham tutoring session (one-hour, one-on-one tutoring). I print the first page on yellow cardstock, trim to 4”x7”, and laminate. I also laminate the blue arrow (on second page) and glue it to a clothespin. When I tutor, I use the list as a pacing guide for me and for the student. With this guide the student can see the structure of the lesson and easily see where we are within our hour of tutoring. The steps of the Orton-Gillingham lesson are listed in kid-friendly language, and I have the student move the clothespin arrow from one step to the next as we work. For easy reference, I have included a description of each step as it appears in a traditional Orton-Gillingham lesson plan.
***I am certified by the Academy of Orton-Gilllingham Practitioners and Educators (www.ortonacademy.org) as an Associate-level tutor.
