In this document you will find ten lists of words for each consonant sound, consonant digraphs, short vowels, units, long vowels, open syllables, closed syllables, silent e, and the first two syllable division rules. These words are listed in a suggested order in which the words are taught with the new sounds building on the ones before. There is space on the left-hand side to check the sounds the students know so you can help them review the sounds they know with this weekly practice sheet for small groups, or it can be used daily for individuals.
How to Use:
-Check the box on the left-hand side to show the sounds that the student knows.
-State the first word that corresponds with the sound the know, have the student repeat and then the student writes the word.
-Continue down list one for each sound the student already knows/has been taught.
-If the student misspells a word, prompt them and then give them the word in list two that corresponds with that sound to allow more practice.
-Repeat this once a week with small groups or during each tutoring session with individuals.
-When you use list two, feel free to pull words from list three in order to allow the student to practice a new word with sounds that were tricky during the last spelling.
