This handout provides two sites on Oscar Wilde and asks students to investigate his life and two of his short stories. We read The Happy Prince as a class, and students are given the choice of the other story they can read online. Biographical information is also requested and a biographical site is provided for students to use. (A few of the final questions do ask about Dorian Gray and touch on his homosexuality). Questions can be deleted or altered for your classes age or maturity! The final questions relate the the second story chosen by the students. They wrap up the assignment by comparing the writings of Wilde and tracing his style and themes. This could be used as an introduction to Wilde or as a homework assignment. I have used it as an individual assignment and as a group project.
