This honors and AP level assignment works well to breakdown Shakespeare's language and his intent in using imagery and rhetorical appeals. It is best done in cooperative learning groups as it takes students a good deal of time to identify literary devices, sort them and analyze the author's purpose. Using this assignment after reading and digesting the literal is imperative. It is wonderful way to bring all the ideas that set up theme together so students can continue to look for them as they read. There is a DETAILED answer key with line numbers from the Signet edition of Othello.
