This is a comprehensive unit plan for teaching all of Othello to high-school students. The bundle includes:
1) An introductory packet t that contains background information about Shakespeare, Elizabethan theater, and the text itself; a list of vocabulary terms that can be used to discuss and analyze the text; a WebQuest; and information about how to go about dissecting, understanding, and "translating" Shakespeare's language.
2) Individual packets for Acts 1-5. Each Act is broken down into scenes. The packets contain comprehension and analysis questions, as well as translation activities for critical passages. The questions promote not only plot comprehension, but meaningful evaluations of the text that require the use of higher-order thinking skills.
3) A 118-slide PowerPoint that aligns directly with all the materials and information included in the introductory packet and the individual Act packets. The PowerPoint is dynamic, creative, colorful, and engaging. It is well-organized, and contains images from movie versions of the play.
4) Two tests (one on Acts 1-2, and one on Acts 3-5).
