A pre-made chart for tracking the use of motifs and symbols in Othello. The chart identifies 5 motifs (black/white, animals, gardens/plants, light/darkness, and demons/monsters) and requires students to identify, cite, and explain instances of the motifs in the text. It also includes space for identifying, citing, and explaining the use of the handkerchief and willow song symbols. I require to the students to independently chart these items throughout the entirety of the unit. This could also be completed with partners or as a whole class.
