This product is a 30 minute video tutorial providing instructions and advice on how to tackle a literary (literature) essay on 'Othello' by William Shakespeare with slides. The discussion focuses on structure, content, tone and style. There are two examples of introductory paragraphs on two different topics in which the content and approach are also addressed in general and one example of a concluding paragraph. Then there is a full essay on another topic, presented with the focus on tone and style. This resource helps students formulate their essay beginning with a strong thesis statement and building a reasoned argument using an assertion/substantiation method. The topics also cover a range of themes which crop up in examinations and tests on 'Othello'.
