This product includes a 7 minute video presenting a discussion of the element of intrigue present in 'Othello'. The influence of the setting in Cyprus is featured as well as Iago's soliloquies and character.
Then there is also an activity in the form of a game called 'Sleutho'.
8 character cards are provided plus a card for notes in a 'case file'. Each card represents a fictional detective who has overheard one of Iago's soliloquies and undertakes an investigation of his means, motive and opportunity.
The student (detective) analyzes the soliloquy and puts together a case file on Iago to trace the path taken by his plotting. In a feedback session students can compare their answers with the suggested responses provided on a separate card.
This tool should provide valuable insight into the stages of the plot as they are undertaken by Iago as well as revelations about his character and the vexed question of the motivation behind his actions.
Everything you need is included. Just print, cut out and play.
An unusual and engaging activity which helps students analyze motivation and character while developing their skills at substantiating their theories from their text.
