PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This product includes a 7 minute video presentation of a discussion of Aristotle's model of the tragic hero and its application to Shakespeare's drama 'Othello' with slides summarizing the concept. There follows a group activity in the form of 4 jigsaw puzzles containing 16 extracts each from the play to be arranged according to the model viz. Othello's heroic stature, the turn in his fortunes from good to bad, his tragic flaw and the recognition of his error. Learners must build the puzzle and motivate the position of the pieces/extracts in their order. This activity is not only fun, but also provides invaluable practice in providing proof from the text to back up reasoned analysis. Also, on completion the learners will have a very thorough understanding of Othello's character.
