I have found that my students need guidance in drawing conclusions about characters or themes in Shakespeare because of the richness of the imagery. Here the multiple choice format helps students by modeling a way to formulate ideas from the text of the play. As they choose from a range of answers they can see how it's done. This is learning by problem solving.
Answers are provided but some of the higher order questions can be fairly open or even downright provocative. Hopefully this will stimulate lots of lively discussion and debate.
